Governance & Advisory Board
The governance of the centre is organized to assure an efficient monitoring of research activities, infrastructure, internal and external actions and post-graduate students engagement prompting a successfully organized CBQF.
CBQF is coordinated by a directive board, including the director – Manuela Pintado and 3 Deputy Directors: António Rangel, Marta Vasconcelos and Freni Tavaria.
There is a Scientific Strategic Group comprising the 4 Research Group Coordinators and the directive board that provide important outputs for annual reports and keep track on scientific excellence.

As an Associate Laboratory since 2004, CBQF has contributed to stimulate the national science and technology
system, demonstrating the capacity to cooperate in an effective manner in the support of public policies, as shown
by the merit of the activities carried out and their impacts, described in the previous sections.
The Mission of the Associate Laboratory CBQF assumes a clear public interest, focussed on pursuing and supporting scientific and technological policies related to the areas of food, environment, circular economy, with impact on human health.
This Mission is materialised into activities that are translated into the four structural Thematic Lines. The Governance structure of the Associate Laboratory will include the following bodies: 1. A Board of Directors; 2. A Scientific Strategic Group 3. A Scientific Council; 4. An External Advisory Board; 5. A Regulatory Council; 6. A Financial Auditing Committee. This Structure combines the mandatory bodies explicit in art.25 of DL/63-2019, and additional groups that facilitates the LA management and the monitoring and engagement of researchers.
